Delectable Mountain

This is a picture of a quilt called Delectable Mountain. I am making one like it. It is going to take a lot of mountain blocks, but I really like this one. My blocks won't be so brite. I will post a picture of one of my blocks soon, if I ever get my bedroom painted!

My Three Little Girls

Last week-end Jack's girls from Marshall came to visit. We all had such a good time. Bill cooked hot dogs on the grill so we had an easy meal. Jacob and the girls talked and talked! You would have thought there were fifty kids in the house. This is a picture of the girls playing with Sophie's toys, while they were waiting for Jacob to get here. Beware world, Megan now has her drivers permit! She has a beautiful picture of her on her permit. Mine always looks like a police mug shot.

My Big Sis is so nice to me!

This is a wallhanging my sister Lilly made for me. She is so creative and a perfectionist! This hangs in my office/sewing room. I love the 30's fabrics. Thank you Lilly, it will always be treasured.

Gourds on the Fireplace

My sister Julie gave a new gourd for my birthday, so I just had to showcase them! Julie made the ones on the ends and I made the one in the middle. I think they are just too cute. I am going to try to talk Bill into letting me get some chickens. Maybe I can tell him with the economy this bad we might need some eggs to go with our beans and rice! If I get tired of the chickens we can always eat them!

Ready for Fall

I know I will think different in January, but for now I am ready for Fall. Everything in the yard has taken on the look of pending doom! I am looking forward to sitting by the fireplace and doing some quilting. It has been a very busy summer even if I did kill the garden. Steve gave me some weed killer and I kind of over done it. Killed everything in my garden! My flowers did really well and looked very nice. I am working on a Christmas table topper this week. I have it pieced and am ready to start quilting it. Monday the guy comes to finish the damage on the shop, then we will be done with the tornado damage. It has been a real pain in the butt, working with the insurance company. I hope we don't have to go through this anytime again soon! Anyhow here is a picture of the front of the house.

Sock Monkey

This is the sock monkey I made for Shelby. She thought it was soft. She had seen the one I gave Sophie for her birthday, and wanted me to make her one. I told her I would make her one for her birthday. When I took it to her I ask what it that she wanted me to make her and she couldn't remember, so it was a surprise! I really don't think she was that impressed!

And Now You are Four

Yesterday was Shelby's birthday. She is now four years old. I think she is just beautiful. She is all girl, I think she thinks in pink. This picture was taken at pre-school last winter. She has changed since then. Bill and I are going to take her present to her tomorrow. I will post a picture of her and the present tomorrow.

The Girls! Three Years Ago

Megan, Ellen and Madi with the purses I made for them. Not to brag but I think I did a pretty good job on them. It is always fun to make something for the ones you love. They live about four hours away now so I don't get to see them as often as I used to. I am trying to think of something to make them for Christmas. Oh! wait I just thought of something, and no Ellen I am not telling!

Doug's Quilt

This is the Friendship Star quilt I made for my son-in-law Doug. This is before it was quilted. It was one of my first quilts. It was easy but still a lot of work.

Sophie and Grace

I watched Sophie for a while last Thursday. This is a picture of her and Grace watching TV and reading. This didn't last long! They were on to bigger and better things in no time at all!

Before and After

Grace went to the groomer yesterday. It had been about four months, so she was way over due! Now you can see her eyes again. I am watching Sophie today, so I should have some pictures of her tomorrow.

Dirty Guy

Can you believe that Kem let's one of her children get this dirty?! This is what Jacob looks like after a day of motocross. He is quite hansome under all the dirt.

Naked Ladies!

Naked Ladies are the only thing in my yard that I am happy about right now. Steve calls them pink ladies. The yellow poplar tree is the reason I am not happy. It is always so beautiful year after year, but this year it has a problem. Just makes me want to say a bad word or TWO!

Sophie and Doug

Sophie had a lot of fun running through the cold well water. I think Kem had the most fun watching her. At 14 months old she isn't afraid of much.

Sophie at Big Sugar Creek

We had a wonderful time at the creek yesterday. Sophie loves the water. She will walk right out into it and keeping going! Yesterday you could hear her take a breath and then dunk her face in the water. The current is pretty strong here so you have to keep a good hold on her. I told Abby we could just pick her up a the bridge if she got loose!

Flying High

Jacob on the race track. He won first place in this race. I know he enjoys racing, but it makes me very nervous! He is fourteen now so he has to have something to release all that energy. Why not golf!

What a nice smile!

My granddaughter Megan got her braces off last month. I think she has such a pretty smile. She will be seventeen in November! Where does the time go?!

Little Miss Big-boots

This is for Sophie's GGTexas! My brother Steve was visiting here yesterday and made the mistake of taking off his cowboy boots. Sophie is into the shoe stage now and had to have them on. Of course GGK does as Sophie wishes. She is all ready to two-step, after she can one-step!

Steve, Bill and I on vacation.

Here are some of the pictures of our trip to Padre Island, Texas. We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed spending time together. The first picture I took of my feet on the drive down because I was bored sitting in the car, forever! I am now planning our next vacation, wonder what I will come up with. Water will be involved for sure!

Thank You Kiley

Here is a picture of Sophie in the floatie that her second cousin Kiley got for her. She loves being in the pool. I have a feeling she is going to be a water bug!

Garden Seat

This is the garden seat that my son Spencer gave me for Mothers day. He is quite the shopper! He is always finding me unique things. I use this every time I weed the flower beds. I was sitting on it on the sidewalk weeding the front flower bed one day and fell off of it. You are supposed to have a skid mat under it when on a slick surface. He didn't buy me the mat, hummm!

Alice Oakleaf Hydrangea

The hydrangea is almost in full bloom. I need to cut it back, but I hate to,because it only blooms on last years wood. I bought this hydrangea because Alice was my Mother' name. It is a busy day here today. Bill is mowing, Steve is cleaning his truck and I am working in the flower beds. I would be working in my garden, but I used some of Steve's weed killer around the outside edges and everything in the garden is dying. I guess Dad was wrong. Sometimes "if one is good two is better", is not always true. It did kill the weeds around the edges!

Happy Anniversary to Us!

Yesterday, June fifth Bill and I have married for a grand total of forty-four years. I was twenty and Bill would have turned twenty in two weeks. I feel truly blessed to have been one of the long-timed wedded. We are off to Padre Island next Saturday! A few days at the beach sounds heavenly right now.

Fun at Grandma's

Sophie is playing with a toy I bought for Grace! Poor Sophie I guess she didn't get anything for her birthday. She is growing so fast! She will be lots of fun in the pool this Summer. I blew up the hippo pool toy that Kiley got her last summer, so it is ready to go. Now if it will just quit raining and get warm.

In the dog house(bed)!

With Abby in the hospital, Sophie was taking advantage doing all the things not usually allowed. In the dog bed only lasted until I saw her pick some little thing up and put it in her mouth!

Oh! Hail

We had an EF4 tornado three miles down the road on Saturday, May 10. Four of our church friends were killed. They were wonderful Christians and were always helping those in need. I am certain they are with Jesus and singing with the angels. Rick was the song leader at our church. Here is a picture of our back yard just as the tornado was going through. My son Spencer and our grandson Justin, that live up on the hill came running down with cycle helmets on. Good thinking Spencer.

New Shrubs

Bill and I bought new shrubs this morning. The old ones died last year because of a long hard freeze. I hope these do well. We planted them this afternoon. We wore ourselves out so we are buying pizza for dinner.

A good day of Fishing(for me!)

Bill and Steve and I went fishing today. It was a beautiful day, just a lot of wind. Steve stayed all night with us so we could leave early. Of course we had to stop for donuts and coffee on the way. Bill and Steve caught no keepers and I caught two. I feel so sorry for them.(not!) Steve caught a 15 inch one last week. I think it gets bigger every time he tells about it.

Expensive Playpen

While waiting for Abby to get Co-Co her shots, I let Sophie play in the back of the Durango. She thought it was great fun.

Grace

Grace is a very important to me. I love the name Grace. I love it so much I named my little yorkie-poo, Grace. Here she is trying to keep me from sewing.

Second post

I hope I can get this to work right. I am just trying this and that. I don't know how to do much of any thing on this computer but that doesn't mean I can't try. Here is a picture of my First Great-Grandchild. Her name is Sophie.
